Learning already - designing the bookmark

Once I knew how we were going to run Book Club, I needed to share that information. Normally, this would be in an email. However, I thought that it would be a good idea to try to put some of the Dual Coding principles into practice and think carefully about the images and text that could outline the plan as clearly as possible; the bookmark was created!

I used Autodraw to create the icons so that they could all be the same colour and style! However, the noun project might be have been quicker!

First of all, I tried to make the bookmark in Google Docs using a table, but I couldn't get rid of some of the gridlines! I shared the file with Bob.

He suggested changing the main text to black. It looked better already, but the gridlines were still an issue.

Bob also suggested using Google Drawings as it is more like Publisher - in that you manipulate the position of objects much easier. Once I had copied and pasted across, all of the individual elements could then be dragged where I wanted them! No grid lines needed! Hurrah!

After a few more tweaks using some of the principles outlined in the book, we were then happy with how the bookmark looked. Bob suggested tweeting it to Oliver Caviglioli (@olicav) as he has asked people to share how their work is changing.  He loved it!

At last! All we needed to do now was to find a working photocopier and some card (thanks Susan)!
